Cheap Flights to Zadar in Croatia From Dublin, Stansted, Germany

A quick overview of the timetable for 2011 scheduled flights to Zadar from the UK, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Tourists looking for a plane to the Dalmatian coast tend to think of Split and Dubrovnik, but cheap flights to Zadar are worth investigating, particularly for visitors from Ireland, who can take advantage of a direct flight from Dublin to Zadar, something that is not currently on offer for Split in 2011.
While many will use Zadar Airport as a connecting point to Split and the Croatian islands, it is worth finding the time to visit Zadar itself, a stunning walled peninsula town rich in history and with some of the best nightlife on the coast. Here is an overview of all the confirmed flights to Zadar for 2011 (it should be noted that air traffic to Zadar, as elsewhere on the Croatian coast, is seasonal, with the bulk of routes operating from late March to late October).
Ryanair Flights to Zadar
Ryanair has dominated the scene since it began operations at Zadar, and 2011 is set to continue that trend, albeit with a reduced coverage from last year. The Zadar Airport website shows the summer schedule from 2010, and four of these routes have been cut from the Ryanair schedule for 2011: Bari, Pisa, Bremen and Edinburgh, for which the latter will be a blow for Scottish travellers looking for direct connections to the Croatian coast (click on the link for an overview of flights to Croatia from the UK for 2011).
Currently, the only UK connection to Zadar is the five times a week flight with Ryanair from Stansted, which takes off for the first time at 1710 on March 27 and finishes the season on October 29. Tourists from Ireland are able to book the flight from Dublin, which will travel twice a week from March 30 to October 29, with the first flight out on March 30 at 0655.
On a busy day of farewells, direct flights from Zadar to Stockholm Skavsta, Oslo Rygge and Brussels Charleroi all finish their Dalmatian stint on October 29 after beginning in late March. Ryanair will be operating two German routes to Zadar for 2011, from Frankfurt Hahn and Dusseldorf Weeze, which both start and end on March 28 and October 28. It is not clear if the Bremen route was cut due to the general scaling back of flights from Germany in the wake of the tax rises for air travel.
Connecting Germany to Zadar with German Wings
The other major budget airline flying into Zadar is German Wings, which offers some useful connections to its German hubs, as well as connecting flights to many European destinations (this may indeed be an option for Irish travellers from Dublin).
Direct flights to Zadar with German Wings connect Stuttgart, Berlin and Bonn/Cologne, while there are two other German connections - Lufthansa from Munich and Intersky from Friedrichshafen.
Cheap Flights to Zadar from Czech Republic and Slovakia
For those looking to connect from Central Europe, two additional routes are advertised. Central Connect Airlines carried more than 1000 passengers from Ostrava and Brno in 2010 between June 3 and September 26 in 2010. Details of the 2011 timetable will be announced on their website in March, while Danube Wings will be repeating their summer service from Bratislava.
Flight schedules are subject to change and it is advisable to check for the latest situation with the airline websites when planning your trip.
