Activities in Croatia: Team Building Programmes on Hvar Island

Treasure hunts, speedboat safaris, traditional fishing, sailing regattas, and wine and spice quizzes: corporate team building on Croatia's premier island.

Lazy days at the beach and wandering through the cafes in old stone towns are popular ways to spend a relaxing holiday, but there is a more dynamic tourism offer that is not so well known – corporate team building.
There are various team building events on offer, giving colleagues the opportunity to bond and brainstorm through stimulating challenges against a background of stunning beauty. Here is a brief overview of some of the team-building activities on offer from local specialist, Hvar Tours.
Pakleni Islands Treasure Hunt
Set in the picturesque Pakleni Islands opposite Hvar Town, the treasure hunt is a team-building event for up to fifty people. Split up into smaller groups and involving some island hopping, the treasure hunt is an exercise in corporate team building and navigation.
Pakleni Island Speedboat Safari
One of the most popular team-building events, the speedboat safari is a test of nautical skills, physical ability and intelligence. There are twelve tasks at eight locations, and the skippers take their instructions from the teams. Capacity for more than 100 participants.
Traditional Wooden Boat Fishing
Blending into local tradition, teams of up to ten jump into traditional fishing boats and hunt for their supper. The biggest catch wins the prize and teams cook and eat their catch, washed down with fine local wines.
The Hvar Olympics
Focusing on teamwork and basic coordination, the Hvar Olympics challenge takes place on the beaches and old stone villages of the island, with activities varying according to the time of year.
Wine & Mediterranean Spice Quiz
An activity for a rainy day (not that it ever rains on Europe's sunniest island!), the wine and spice quiz starts with an entertaining lecture from a local vintner, followed by a quiz and wine tasting.
Famous for its olive oil and aromatic fields, Hvar's spices are then put to the taste test as teams come together to identify the spices in various local flavoured olive oils.
Sailing Scavenger Hunt
Taking to the seas once more, teams of up to ten per boat are given basic sailing lessons by an experienced skipper, before being tasked to sail the boat themselves and retrieve ten objects from the sea.
Hvar Photo Challenge
A chance to capture the true beauty of Hvar on camera, the photo challenge takes place either in Hvar Town or on the Pakleni Islands, and requires participants to snap the flora, fauna, people and buildings of the island, before producing a group narrative of the collection.
Hvar Cup (Sailing Regatta)
An intensive sailing course for groups from 10 to 400 allows participants to learn more about their sailing abilities, ending in a race around the Pakleni Islands and finishing up with an excellent feast at one of the islands' waterfront restaurants.
More individual programmes can be arranged on request, and the diverse nature on Hvar lends itself to a varied offer. For those for whom the team building activities seem a little bit too much, there is a reason why lazy days at the beach and cafe-hopping in old stone towns are a popular choice. There is something for everyone on Hvar.
